Researching Children's Literature Authors

Have you ever wondered how an author gets those great ideas for writing children’s books?  How do they know what will make the children laugh and smile? What inspires them to write their stories? Is there anything in their past that could have influenced what they wrote about in their children’s books?  These are questions we sometimes want to know when reading books.  Sometimes it is important to know the history behind an author, to know what their life was like before they became a writer and how it influenced their creativity in story writing. 
 

Have you ever had a favorite book that you read over and over again?  Is there an author that you like for a certain reason and have chosen to read many of that one author’s books?  In this assignment, you will choose an author that you would like to get to know more about; maybe because you like a book he or she has written, or because there is something you know about this author and you want to know more.
